TransTRACK Supports the Tabanan Regency Government in Improving the Safety of Trans Siswa School Bus Through the Implementation of IoT-Based GPS

TransTRACK GPS technology is now being used in the 244-vehicle Trans Siswa school bus fleet, which serves 103 routes in Tabanan Regency, to strengthen real-time operational monitoring and improve student safety.
Tabanan, Bali, July 25, 2026 – The Tabanan Regency Government, through the Tabanan Regency Transportation Agency, has partnered with TransTRACK to implement Global Positioning System (GPS) technology across the 244-vehicle Trans Siswa school transportation fleet operating in Tabanan Regency, Bali. This collaboration is part of an effort to provide safer, more transparent, and technology-based school transportation services.
As a technology company (tech enabler) that develops digital solutions based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), TransTRACK offers a telematics system that enables real-time fleet monitoring. This implementation is part of the “Ayo Selamat Sekolah” Program, which not only focuses on the digitization of vehicle monitoring but also supports efforts to improve driver readiness ahead of the launch of the Trans Siswa Student Transportation Service at the start of the new school year.

This program is implemented through collaboration among various agencies, including the Tabanan Regency Transportation Agency, the Tabanan Regency Health Agency, the Tabanan Regency Narcotics Agency (BNK), and a number of other stakeholders committed to student transportation safety.
Improving school transportation safety is a key priority given the high rate of traffic accidents in Bali. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province, there were 8,498 traffic accidents throughout 2025, resulting in 261 fatalities, 67 serious injuries, and 8,649 minor injuries. Meanwhile, the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) noted that human factors, such as driver negligence and traffic violations, remain the dominant causes of accidents in the region.
Currently, all 244 vehicles in the Trans Siswa school transportation fleet—which serve 103 routes across 10 subdistricts in Tabanan Regency—have been equipped with TransTRACK GPS devices. This free transportation service is intended for elementary and junior high school students to support safer and more accessible education.
The GPS devices in use are integrated with the Tabanan Regency Transportation Agency’s control center, allowing for real-time monitoring of vehicle locations, trip histories, and route compliance. The availability of this operational data helps local governments conduct more effective oversight while continuously evaluating the quality of school transportation services.

In addition to improving fleet visibility, this system also helps promote driver discipline, minimize potential route deviations, and strengthen accountability in the operation of public transportation services.

According to him, GPS-generated travel data will be even more effective when combined with various other safety programs.
“GPS technology provides accurate operational information to support the monitoring process. When combined with driver health checkups, drug and alcohol testing, and driver safety education, it creates a more comprehensive safety system for both students and drivers,” Anggia continued.
The implementation in Tabanan Regency also reflects TransTRACK’s commitment to providing more comprehensive vehicle safety solutions. In addition to GPS technology, TransTRACK offers an Artificial Intelligence-based Driver Monitoring System (DMS) that can help detect risky driving behavior—including signs of driver fatigue and distraction—at an earlier stage.
Anggia added that the use of telematics technology must be able to have a tangible impact on improving safety and operational quality.
“GPS data serves not only as a monitoring tool but also as the foundation for data-driven decision-making. The hope is that this implementation will help improve driver discipline, support the government in conducting operational evaluations, and ensure that every student can travel safely,” Anggia concluded.
As part of the “Ayo Selamat Sekolah” Program, all 244 drivers of the Trans Siswa school bus service also underwent health checkups, drug tests, and traffic safety training before beginning their shifts. These measures are part of a joint effort to minimize the risk of accidents, which are still largely influenced by human factors such as fatigue, loss of concentration, unsafe driving behavior, and non-compliance with operational procedures.
Moving forward, TransTRACK will continue to expand its collaboration with the government and various strategic partners to provide telematics solutions that support a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable transportation system. The implementation of GPS in the Tabanan Regency Student Transportation Program is one example of digital transformation that provides tangible benefits for improving the quality of public transportation services in Indonesia.
